Return to Meet our 2006 Winners
2006 Grand Prize Winner - Congratulations!
PRINCE
GEORGE’S COUNTY – Gorgeous Prince George’s
County, Where Families Come Together, is excited to announce
the Grand Prize Winner of the 2006 Family Reunion Sweepstakes.
Ms. Yolawnda Rogers of Cincinnati, Ohio, will receive an
incredible family reunion prize package. Ms. Rogers is
beside herself with excitement. She heard about the Sweepstakes
from Ebony Magazine, but was hesitant to enter because
she thought, “nobody wins those things!”
The Conference & Visitors Bureau along with its major partners and county
sponsors will provide hotel accommodations and host food and catering services
for a bountiful reunion dinner, a breakfast buffet, and evening reception. Ms
Roger’s family will also be treated to a guided cultural tour of Gorgeous
Prince George’s County, an informative genealogy workshop for those curious
about their family’s roots, and a fabulous time at Six Flags America®.
The family will be provided with a hospitality room for gathering, photography
and video services for their reunion, and given forty t-shirts printed with their
family name, reunion date, location, sweepstakes partners and sponsors.
When she heard she had won Yolawnda said, “Even though there was a blizzard
outside, I was seeing sunshine and hearing the birds chirp I was so happy!” Her
daughter, Nushayla feels the same, she cannot wait to explore the Six Flags America
theme park with her family. 8-year-old Nushayla, whose name means ‘little
princess’ is already a part of the family’s reunion planning committee.
Yolawnda is an Ohio native and has a successful career as a Credentials Representative
in the healthcare field. She enjoys traveling and loves to bake; Yolawnda’s
Salmon Croquets are a family favorite. She spends free time with family, and
recently planned an 80th birthday party for her father.
Yolawnda father’s side of the family has a reunion once a year where they
enjoy all kinds of activities: baseball and card games, a huge picnic, and dance
party in the evenings. She is looking forward to getting together with her mother’s
side of the family too, who are smaller and in need of a family reunion. The
family lives mostly between Ohio and neighboring Kentucky, and is considering
renting a bus for the family reunion trip planned for this summer. The entire
family is excited. Yolawnda says, “They don’t care about travel or
cost- everyone just wants to see one another!”
