2007 Monthly Winner—Congratulations!

Gorgeous Prince George’s County, Reunion Capital USA, is excited to announce the 1st Monthly Winner of the Family Reunion Sweepstakes. Angela McClain is a super stay-at-home mom originally from Kansas City, Missouri who moved to Maryland 17 years ago and has been living in Prince George’s County for 7 years.

Angela stays busy; she decided to go back to school at the University of Phoenix in Greenbelt to earn a degree in HR Management and Psychology. She and her husband also have 3 children, a 25-year-old son, 20-year-old daughter, and 3-year-old miracle baby, their “little man” Jeremiah. 3-year-old Jeremiah is home schooled and already loves to read, can speak Spanish at a 5-year-old grade level, and loves the Prince George’s County fair.  Mrs. McClain’s 22nd wedding anniversary will be this June and she plans to use her prize to treat her family to a vacation to Six Flags.

Angela and her husband’s side of the family gather every 2 years for a reunion; in 2005 it was held in Mississippi, and in 2007 Angela hosted the entire family reunion in Prince George’s County. 2007 was the largest attendance ever (about 200 family members!) for their 30th anniversary. Some family members had never been to the Washington DC area before. Angela organized a bus tour of downtown Washington DC, a family picnic, a fish fry, and a Sunday banquet at her church where the entire family dressed in traditional African attire. Her son drew the design for the tee shirts the family wore; the theme was “The past, the present, & the future.” In 2009 the family reunion will be held in Atlanta, Georgia.

Family is important to Angela; they enjoy going to church together and many members enjoy golfing. Her side of the family never had reunions, and now that Angela’s parents are deceased, she is searching to learn more about her family– who they are, and where they are.
